| 正面描述 | Laureate bust of Hadrian, draped and cuirassed, facing left, viewed from the front, rendered in high relief with finely detailed hair and beard characteristic of Hadrianic portraiture. The emperor's effigy displays a military paludamentum over the cuirass, with drapery visible at the left shoulder. The circumferential legend, executed in crisp Roman capitals, runs along the beaded border encircling the portrait. The field shows the characteristic green patina of an orichalcum sestertius struck at Rome. |

Hadrian's early sestertii from 121–123 fall within the period immediately following his consolidation of power after Trajan's death — a succession that was itself contested, with questions about whether Trajan had genuinely adopted Hadrian or whether Plotina fabricated the arrangement on her deathbed. The COS III dating pins this issue to his third consulship, a tenure he held without iteration for the remainder of his reign.
RIC II.3 #669 reflects the revised second edition's significant reattribution work on Hadrianic bronzes, correcting earlier RIC II groupings that had collapsed several distinct issues.
