The "FORT RED" legend — Fortuna Redux, "Fortune the Returner" — was specifically tied to Hadrian's return to Rome following his first great provincial tour, a journey that had taken him through Gaul, Britain, Spain, Mauretania, and the East over roughly four years ending around 125 AD. The Senate issued formal honors upon his return, and this reverse type was among the commemorative issues that followed.
