| Obverse description | Laureate head of Divus Augustus facing right, depicted with finely rendered curling hair beneath the laurel wreath. The portrait is executed in the idealized Augustan style, with strong facial modeling typical of Julio-Claudian commemorative issues. The surrounding legend reads DIVVS AVGVSTVS, identifying the deified first emperor. The field shows the characteristic irregular surface of a hammered bronze flan. This obverse type follows the posthumous portrait tradition established under the original Augustan sestertii. |
