Semis - Trajan S C, Hercules

The semis was already a dying denomination by Trajan's reign — bronze fractions had been in steep decline since the Flavians, and most issues after 98 AD saw limited production runs. Those struck in the 114–117 window fall within Trajan's final years, when military campaigns in Mesopotamia and the annexation of Armenia stretched imperial logistics and mint output alike. That the semis persisted at all into this period is itself notable.

RIC II 690 is among the scarcer of Trajan's bronze fractions in circulated grades, largely because small bronze saw the hardest use.
