| Beschrijving keerzijde | The Altar of the Three Gauls (Ara Trium Galliarum) at Lugdunum depicted in frontal view, its facade decorated with a corona civica flanked on each side by a standing nude male figure. Atop tall columns flanking the altar stand two Victories, each holding a wreath, presented symmetrically on either side of the monument. The reverse legend ROM ET AVG appears in the field, dedicating the type to Rome and the emperor Augustus. This reverse type is associated with the imperial altar established at Lugdunum (modern Lyon) in 12 BC, serving as the religious and political focal point of the three Gallic provinces. |
