An array of arms and military trophies is arranged behind her in the field, underscoring the martial theme of the composition. The senatorial legend PONTIF MAX TR POT P P is inscribed around the periphery, with the authorizing mark S C (Senatus Consultum) prominently displayed in the field, confirming senatorial sanction for this bronze issue. The design is characteristic of the Neronian aes coinage produced at Rome under the monetary reform of AD 63. |
