| Obverse description | Stylized porcupine-derived bust facing right, rendered in a highly schematic early medieval manner. The figure displays a prominent arrangement of curved parallel lines terminating in pellets, representing the characteristic spiky quills or hair of the so-called Porcupine type. A linear collar or neck element separates the head from the lower field. The design occupies the full flan and is entirely without inscription, reflecting the anonymous, pre-literate coinage tradition of early Frisian monetary production. |
