The genuine 1947 aluminium piastre was struck at Paris as French Indochina's colonial administration was already losing its grip — the First Indochina War had begun in December 1946. This is a replica; the original issue itself circulated barely at all before the monetary system it belonged to began collapsing alongside French military authority in the region.
