Reverse description The quartered heraldic shield of Cardinal Ottavio Acquaviva d'Aragona occupies the central field, displaying the arms of Aragon combined with those of the Acquaviva family, surmounted by a cardinal's galero with pendant tassels arranged in the traditional hierarchical rows. The shield is flanked by elaborate decorative mantling. The date 1598 is divided and placed in the lower field to either side of the shield's base. The surrounding circular Latin legend identifies the cardinal legate and his seat of authority at Avignon.
