Tashfin b. 'Ali ruled the collapsing western Almoravid realm for barely two years before dying — reportedly thrown from his horse during a night flight from Tlemcen in 1145 — leaving his young son Ibrahim to reign for a matter of months before the dynasty's complete dissolution under Almohad pressure. Coins naming both ruler and designated heir were a deliberate assertion of dynastic continuity at precisely the moment continuity was becoming impossible.
