Obverse description Broad, slightly curved blade tapering toward the spine, bearing six archaic Chinese ideograms arranged vertically in the field reading 齊建造邦長法化 (Qi Jian Zao Bang Chang Fa Hua, meaning 'Qi establishment, make state, long legal money'). The characters are rendered in the angular, incuse linear style characteristic of Warring States period bronze casting. The blade narrows into a curved shank terminating in a hollow circular ring handle. The raised rim follows the contour of the blade on both edges.
