The legend reads the first part of the Islamic shahada: 'There is no god but Allah alone, He has no partner.' The script is executed in a bold, early Kufic style characteristic of Umayyad coinage of the eastern provinces, with thick strokes and minimal ornamentation. The flan is irregularly shaped with a slightly raised, uneven rim, a typical feature of hammered provincial issues from Sind. No figural imagery, borders, or decorative elements are present. |
