Prutah - Mattatayah Antigonus

Descrizione del dritto	Heavily corroded and worn bronze field bearing a retrograde Paleo-Hebrew inscription. The legend, reading right to left in archaic Hebrew script, spells the name Mattatayah — the Hebrew name of Antigonus II Mattathias, last of the Hasmonean rulers. The flan is irregular and roughly struck, typical of the small hammered bronze prutot of this period. Surface encrustation largely obscures finer detail, though traces of the inscription remain discernible.

Descrizione del rovescio	Central device depicting a stylized cornucopia (horn of plenty), rendered in low relief on an irregular, roughly struck flan. The cornucopia is shown frontally, with curved flanking elements suggesting a double cornucopia motif, a common Hasmonean symbol of royal abundance and legitimacy. The field surrounding the device is heavily worn and encrusted, consistent with extended burial or circulation. No legible inscription is visible on this example, though some specimens of this type bear a Greek legend.
