| Beschrijving voorzijde | The obverse field is entirely occupied by a multi-line Persian legend in Nastaliq script, arranged in flowing diagonal bands across the coin's surface. The imperial titulature references Shah Alam II as nominal Mughal sovereign, invoking his role as Defender of the Faith of Islam and citing divine favour. Decorative foliate and star-shaped ornaments punctuate the legend in the field, a typical stylistic feature of late Mughal-derived coinage. The design follows the established Mughal epigraphic tradition, with no figurative imagery, the inscriptions themselves serving as the primary decorative and identificatory element. A reeded border frames the entire composition. |
