| 正面描述 | A crenellated tower or castle depicted in the central field, rendered in a schematic style typical of Crusader coinage, with battlements clearly visible across the upper register. The tower is enclosed within a plain inner circle, with the legend surrounding it in the outer field. The design reflects the heraldic architectural motifs common to the Crusader states of the twelfth century. |

Reginald Grenier held Sidon as a vassal of the Kingdom of Jerusalem during one of the most pressured periods in Crusader history — the years bracketing the catastrophic defeat at Hattin in 1187, after which Saladin swept through virtually every Crusader coastal holding in a matter of months. The pougeoise denomination served petty commerce in the Levantine markets, and most examples were used hard. Sidon itself fell to Saladin that same year.
