Two curved arc elements appear at the lower left, likely representing the chin and neck, while a cluster of three pellet-and-crescent motifs occupies the right field, interpreted as the laureate wreath or hair locks of the Apollo prototype. The animal's body is depicted as a large rounded mass with a prominent humped back, the head lowered and the muzzle indicated by a projecting arc. Two curved horns rise above the head into the upper field, and a lashing tail curves upward to the rear. The legs are reduced to short, vestigial stumps below the body mass. The field is plain and the flan edge is irregular, consistent with the cast production technique of Cantian potin issues. |
