| Obverse description | Highly schematized Celtic rendering of an Apollo head, depicted in left profile as a series of concentric arcs and circular devices. The facial features are abstracted into concentric rings centred on a central pellet, representing the eye, surrounded by a large annular whorl filling the field. Two curved arc elements appear at the lower left, likely representing the chin and neck, while a cluster of three pellet-and-crescent motifs occupies the right field, interpreted as the laureate wreath or hair locks of the Apollo prototype. The design is cast in low relief with a characteristically rough and uneven surface typical of Kentish potin coinage. |
