Obverse description Central field occupied by the quartered heraldic shield of the Luxembourg-Bar convention, displaying the combined arms of Luxembourg and Bar in relief. The shield is surmounted by a long cross with triple-ribbed arms extending to the inner pearled circle, dividing the field into four quarters. The design is enclosed between two concentric pearled circles, with the Latin legend distributed in the annular space between them. The overall style is characteristic of Gothic hammered coinage of the mid-fourteenth century, with bold relief elements and irregular flan edges.
