Obverse description Central field displays a crowned cross composed of four shield-shaped compartments, each bearing heraldic devices associated with the Portuguese royal arms, arranged in a cruciform pattern. The mint mark 'L' (for Lisboa) appears at approximately 1 o'clock above the crown, and a secret symbol (privy mark) is positioned at approximately 11 o'clock above the crown. A beaded inner border frames the central design, with the circular Latin legend in uncial script running along the outer margin of the field.
