| Beschrijving voorzijde | Armored bust of Francesco Maria II della Rovere facing left, depicted in high relief with detailed Renaissance-style plate armor. The date in Roman numerals appears beneath the effigy, positioned in the lower field. The encircling legend, rendered in Latin, commences at the lower left and reads around the periphery of the flan. | Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse displays the elaborate quartered dynastic arms of the della Rovere and Montefeltro families, surmounted by a ducal crown and set within a richly ornate cartouche with scrolled foliate decoration. The shield is flanked by symmetrical baroque strapwork, and the overall heraldic composition fills the flan. The encircling Latin legend identifies the issuer as sixth Duke of Urbino, with each word separated by a decorative star-shaped stop. The entire design is contained within a beaded or rope border typical of hammered Italian piastre of this period. |
