Otto IV and Albert II ruled Carinthia jointly following the extinction of the Görz-Tyrol line in 1335, when the duchy passed to the Habsburgs under a succession agreement negotiated decades earlier. The co-regency coinage issued under their names reflects the administrative reality of Habsburg territorial consolidation in the southeastern Alpine lands — two names on one coin, neither man actually resident in the duchy for much of the period.
The St. Veit mint, located in the historic capital of Carinthia, held minting rights that predated Habsburg control by centuries.
