The effigy displays the characteristic youthful features of Gordian III rendered in the provincial workshop style of Moesia Inferior. The encircling Greek legend reads M ANT ΓOPΔIANOC AYΓ, identifying the emperor by his imperial titulature. The flan is irregular, with some weakness at the rim consistent with hand-struck provincial coinage of the period. |

| Opis rewersu | Nemesis, the goddess of retribution and divine justice, depicted standing left in long chiton and himation, holding a pair of scales in her raised right hand and a cubit rule in her left. At her feet, a wheel — an attribute emblematic of her role as arbiter of fate — is rendered in low relief. The figure is well-centred on the flan, executed in the typical provincial die-cutting style of Marcianopolis under the governorship of Menophilus. The surrounding Greek legend names the city and its governor: VΠ MHNOΦIΛOV MAPKIANOΠOΛITΩN. |
