| Beschrijving keerzijde | A tetrastyle temple with a peaked pediment is depicted in frontal elevation, its columns framing a cult statue of Serapis standing within the naos; the deity is shown with his right hand raised and holding a sceptre in his left, with the modius atop his head. The mark of value E (five) appears to the left of the temple in the field, confirming the denomination as a pentassarion. The encircling Greek legend names the city of Marcianopolis and the presiding magistrate Quintillianus in the genitive case. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Marcianopolis, founded by Trajan and named for his sister Marciana, was one of the principal administrative centers of Moesia Inferior, and its civic mint was unusually productive under Septimius Severus and his dynasty. This piece belongs to a category of provincial bronzes issued jointly in the names of Caracalla and Julia Domna — a pairing that reflects the careful dynastic messaging of the Severan court rather than any co-regency in the constitutional sense. The magistrate Quintillianus is attested across several Marcianopolitan issues, allowing approximate sequencing within the reign.
