Obverse description Central long cross fleury with a lozenge at the intersection enclosing a pellet. The four angles formed by the cross arms each contain a letter of the royal legend, arranged evenly within the field. The overall design is characteristic of the non-portrait Light coinage struck under Offa of Mercia, with an angular, geometrically precise composition typical of late 8th-century Anglo-Saxon die work.
