The royal legend, reading the king's name and title, is distributed around the field between the two concentric borders in Latin script. The design is characteristic of the Two Line type coinage struck during the reign of King Eadwig, exhibiting the restrained geometric style typical of mid-tenth-century Anglo-Saxon hammered silver pennies. |
