Obverse description Facing crowned effigy of King Stephen, depicted with a diademed and draped bust rendered in the Romanesque style typical of Anarchy-period coinage. The king's face is shown frontally with stylized facial features, wearing an ornate crown with pellet decoration. The bust is flanked by sceptres or other royal regalia in the fields to either side. A circular legend surrounds the effigy, reading + STIEFNE, identifying the monarch.
