Obverse description Diademed bust of King Baldred facing right, rendered in the angular, stylized manner characteristic of Kentish Anglo-Saxon coinage of the early ninth century. The effigy occupies the central field with minimal drapery indicated at the shoulder. A Latin legend reading + BΛLDRED REX encircles the bust, identifying the ruler by name and title. The lettering is set within the outer border in the typical insular epigraphic style of the period.

Reverse description A cross moline is prominently displayed at the center of the coin, enclosed within a beaded or plain inner circle, a standard design convention of Anglo-Saxon penny coinage. The central motif exhibits the characteristic flared and curved terminals of the cross moline type. Surrounding the inner circle, the moneyer's name legend + EDELmOD mOИ-TΛ is distributed around the field, identifying the issuing moneyer. The overall composition is well-centered for a hammered issue and consistent with Rochester mint production of the period.
