| Beschrijving voorzijde | Diademed bust of King Æthelwulf facing right, rendered in the angular, stylised manner characteristic of mid-ninth-century Anglo-Saxon die-cutting. The effigy breaks the inner beaded circle, with the shoulders draped and the facial features boldly modelled. The royal legend is disposed around the bust within the outer border, reading clockwise from the left. |

| Beschrijving keerzijde | A bold beaded cross divides the reverse field into four quadrants, with the moneyer's name distributed across the arms and angles of the cross in characteristic Phase IV Anglo-Saxon style. The letters are arranged in two-character groups within each quadrant, separated by pellets or small crosses, producing the distinctive cross-and-letters type associated with the Canterbury mint of this period. A beaded border encircles the design. |
