Johann III ruled Holstein-Plön as a vassal of the Danish crown during one of the most administratively fractured periods in medieval Danish history — the decades following the collapse of royal authority under Christoffer II, when regional lords effectively minted on their own terms. The Hauberg reference grouping under "Christoffer" reflects genuine uncertainty about attribution, as coins of this type circulated interchangeably across jurisdictions where central oversight had largely dissolved.

Sakskøbing, on Lolland, was an active enough commercial point to warrant local billon production, but surviving examples are thinly documented in major collections.
