A schematic bust or head of the bishop facing right occupies the central field, rendered in the rudimentary style typical of mid-thirteenth-century Utrecht ecclesiastical coinage. Partial Latin legend HENRICVS runs along the periphery, identifying the issuer as Henry of Vianden, Bishop of Utrecht (1250–1267). The die work is rough, consistent with provincial hammered coinage of this period, with portions of the legend weak or off-flan due to the irregular planchet. |
