| Descrição do anverso | Crude facing bust of the king in high relief at center, rendered in the Romanesque style typical of early Danish medieval coinage. The effigy displays a crowned or helmeted head with stylized facial features, flanked by pellets or small globules in the field. A partial Latin legend runs along the outer periphery of the irregular flan, though much of the inscription is weak or off-flan due to the hand-struck technique. The overall design is characterized by the bold, schematic execution common to Danish pennings of the first half of the twelfth century. |

| Descrição do reverso | A large voided cross pattée or wheel-cross motif dominates the reverse field, with radiating lines or spokes dividing the design into multiple triangular segments, evoking a Catherine wheel or sun-wheel symbol. The cross extends toward the inner border, which is defined by a beaded or toothed circle. Small wedge-shaped ornaments fill the interstices between the radiating arms. The composition is bold and geometric, consistent with the Romanesque decorative vocabulary employed on Danish ecclesiastical coinage of the reign of Erik II. The irregular flan results in partial loss of the design at the rim. |

Erik II — "Erik Emune," or Erik the Memorable — seized the Danish throne after the murder of Niels at Schleswig in 1134, a killing he orchestrated personally following the Battle of Fodevig. His reign lasted only three years before his own assassination in 1137 at Ribe, making coinage attributable to this period exceptionally scarce. Hauberg's attribution rests on stylistic and find-site evidence rather than any documentary mint record, and the assignment remains among the more contested in early Danish numismatics.
