| Reverse description | St. George on horseback, wearing a flowing cape, helmet, and boots, rearing to the right and wielding a short sword in his right hand over a vanquished dragon, which lies beneath the horse's hooves with a broken lance embedded in its body. The date 1901 appears in the exergue, accompanied by the mintmark P (Perth Mint). The design is Benedetto Pistrucci's celebrated classical composition, used on British and colonial gold coinage throughout the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. |
