正面描述 Central device composed of an elaborate cross of Burgundy (saltire) formed by two crossed, fire-steeled and knotted branches, surmounted by a royal crown at the top. The date 1625 is divided across the horizontal arms of the cross within the inner circle. A small escutcheon of the arms of Burgundy appears at the center of the cross. The surrounding circular legend, separated by pellet stops, reads PHIL IIII D G REX HISP INDIAR Zc, identifying Philip IV as King of Spain and the Indies by the grace of God. The coin is struck on an irregular flan typical of hammered coinage of the period, with the legend partially visible around the beaded inner circle.

附加信息

The County of Burgundy — the Franche-Comté — remained under Habsburg rule long after the Duchy of Burgundy had passed to France, a geographic anomaly that made it a persistent flashpoint. Philip IV inherited this territory alongside the Spanish crown in 1621 and immediately faced French encroachment; Louis XIII's forces actually occupied the Franche-Comté briefly in 1636 during the broader Thirty Years' War, which likely disrupted production across this very issue's date range.

The patagon series was a product of the Spanish Netherlands monetary system extended into Burgundian coinage, standardized under earlier Habsburg policy and maintained here as a deliberate assertion of dynastic continuity.
