Obverse description A plain cross with a floral ornament or rosette in the third angle occupies the central field of the flan. A circular Latin legend reading IMPVRIAS encircles the cross, referencing the county of Empúries. The design is characteristically crude in execution, consistent with the primitive hammered coinage of 11th–12th century Catalan feudal mints. The flan is irregular and slightly chipped at the edges, as is typical for this series.
