V. István (Stephen V) ruled Hungary and its provinces for just two years before dying at age 33 in 1272, likely from illness contracted while fleeing his own son Ladislaus, who had allied with rebellious magnates against him. Slavonian provincial coinage of this brief reign is consequently scarce by reign-length alone. The ÉH#14 attribution places this firmly within the medieval Hungarian corpus catalogued by Lajos Réthy.
