| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse displays a stylized depiction of a church or chapel facade in the center of the field, rendered in the schematic architectural manner characteristic of Ottonian episcopal coinage: a triangular pediment above a columned portico, with further architectural elements suggested below. The surrounding legend, introduced by a cross pommée, reads ✠ HEINRICVS RX, invoking the authority of King Henry II under whose reign this coin was struck. The lettering is in angular Latin capitals, partially degenerate and irregular due to the hand-hammered production technique. The flan is broad but uneven, with the die somewhat off-center. The composition closely follows Rhenish and Lotharingian ecclesiastical numismatic conventions of the early 11th century. |
