The Boii occupied a broad swathe of central Europe — Bohemia takes its name from them — before Roman and Dacian pressure collapsed their political structures in the late first century BC. Their coinage tradition borrowed heavily from Macedonian prototypes but evolved into increasingly abstract local forms. The Roseldorf II type takes its name from the cult and assembly site at Roseldorf in Lower Austria, where significant concentrations of Boian coins have been excavated, suggesting ritual deposition rather than ordinary loss.
