Matthias Corvinus overhauled the Hungarian monetary system in 1467, centralizing mint operations and suppressing the fractional issues that had proliferated under his predecessors. The obol, already a marginal denomination by this point, survived the reform but in drastically reduced quantities. ÉH#576 is among the scarcer products of that reorganization — output was curtailed almost immediately as the reformed system prioritized the denar as the practical unit of petty exchange.
