The design is boldly engraved and fills the compact flan. The ethnic legend of the issuing authority is distributed around the skyphos in Greek characters, reading ΚΟ Τ Υ, an abbreviation for Kotys, the Odrysian king. The reverse composition is typical of Thracian coinage associating royal authority with Dionysiac symposiastic imagery. |
