| Beschrijving keerzijde | A plain cross with slightly splayed arms occupies the central field, enclosed within an inner circle or beaded border. The surrounding legend, introduced by a cross pattée, reads PAISIVS CIVITAS, identifying the Paris mint as the place of issue. The lettering is in the Carolingian-influenced lapidary style typical of early Capetian royal coinage. The reverse fabric is irregular, with flat areas and weak strikes consistent with hand-hammered production. The design follows the standard Capetian obol type established under the Robertian and early Capetian dynasties. |
