Heraia was a small polis in Arcadia, situated along the Alpheios River, and among the earliest communities in the region to strike its own silver coinage. The city's independent issues are notably scarce — Arcadian minting was frequently consolidated under the Arcadian League after 370 BC, which effectively ended autonomous civic coinage for most member states. This obol predates that suppression.
