| 正面描述 | Bust of the sea deity Glaukos to right, depicted as a bearded triton with a muscular human torso merging into a fish tail in the lower field; the figure raises one arm and holds a trident, rendered in a vigorous archaic style characteristic of Cretan coinage. The irregular flan displays the typical characteristics of hand-struck Greek silver coinage of the fourth century BC. No legend or inscription appears in the field. |

Itanos occupied the northeastern tip of Crete — remote enough that its coinage remained largely independent of the island's dominant minting centers at Knossos and Gortyna. The city's output was modest in volume, and obols from this period survive in small numbers, most found in eastern Cretan hoards rather than through systematic excavation.
