Obverse description Facing gorgoneion (Medusa head) depicted in archaic style, rendered with a broad, flat face framed by a thick, stylized beard composed of pellet-like curls. The hair is arranged in tight spiral locks radiating around the head, and the eyes are rendered in a schematic, frontal manner characteristic of Lycaonian coinage of the fourth century BC. The face fills the entire field of the flan with no surrounding legend or border.
