The amphora is set against a granular or textured field, characteristic of the archaic die-cutting tradition of Opuntian Lokris. No inscription appears on this face. |

The lower left compartment contains the Greek letter omicron (O), serving as an abbreviated ethnic or control mark. The entire design is sunk into the flan in the incuse technique typical of early fifth-century BC Lokrian coinage. |
