Kleonai, a smaller polis, minted its own fractional currency, highlighting its economic autonomy. The Obol facilitated daily commerce, reflecting the city's participation in the regional Hellenic economic system.

Artistry: The Obol's design exemplifies the Early to High Classical Greek style, characterized by developing naturalism and idealized forms. The engraver remains anonymous, typical for issues of this scale. The obverse commonly features a laureate head of Herakles, a hero strongly associated with the Argolid region, rendered with powerful, refined features. The reverse typically displays a club, Herakles' signature attribute, often accompanied by the city's initial 'K'.

Technical/Grading: Struck on a diminutive 10mm flan weighing 0.76 grams, the technical execution is commendable for its period.
