| Description du revers | A hexastyle temple with a triangular pediment adorned with acroteria, possibly representing Victory figures, set within a carefully detailed architectural frame. Enthroned within the temple cella is Roma, helmeted and draped, seated facing left upon a shield, her head turned to sinister; she holds a globe in her right hand and a spear (hasta) in her left. The reverse legend CONSERV VRB SVAE — meaning 'Preserver of His City' — appears in the field around the temple, referencing Maxentius's celebrated promotion of Rome as his imperial capital. The mintmark appears in the exergue, identifying the officina of the Ticinum mint. |
