| 裏面の説明 | The Genius of the Roman People (Genius Populi Romani) stands in full figure facing left, turreted and draped, holding a patera in the extended right hand over an altar and a cornucopiae in the left hand, symbolising abundance and divine favour toward Rome. A six-pointed star appears in the right field, serving as a decorative and possibly auspicious device. The mintmark PLN, denoting the Prima officina of the Londinium mint, is inscribed in the exergue. The reverse legend encircles the upper field in Latin capitals, and the composition is framed by a beaded border. |

Licinius I was not yet Augustus of the East when these London pieces were struck — he had been elevated by Galerius only in 308 at the Congress of Carnuntum, a political settlement that briefly stabilized a collapsing tetrarchic system. London's mint, already winding down its output by this period, was producing for a man who would spend the next decade maneuvering against Constantine before his final defeat at Chrysopolis in 324. The PLN mintmark places this squarely in the mint's late phase before it effectively ceased operations around 325.
