| Beschrijving voorzijde | Right-facing bust of Emperor Gratian, depicted pearl-diademed, draped, and cuirassed, rendered in the late Roman imperial style characteristic of the Theodosian period. The effigy displays the emperor in military dress with paludamentum visible at the shoulder. The surrounding field carries the Latin imperial titulature legend. The portrait conveys the conventional late antique representation of imperial authority, with the pearl diadem signifying the Christianised court ceremonial adopted from the Constantinian dynasty. |
