The horseman, bareheaded, tumbles from his mount and turns his head back toward the soldier while extending his left arm in a gesture of supplication. A second shield lies on the ground to the right of the composition. A letter appears in the left field as a control mark, while the officina letter and mintmark SIRM are inscribed in the exergue, identifying the Sirmium mint.
