The composition evokes Rome's naval supremacy and imperial triumph, rendered in the flat, stylized idiom characteristic of Constantinian bronzes. The exergue bears the mint mark SMANI, denoting the Antioch mint, tenth officina. No reverse legend appears beyond the mint mark in the exergue. |
